Hi, I'm Dave Zitin,

I believe that each child is a unique success story waiting to be written. I started this 17 year journey as a Middle School classroom teacher with students who have Autism. I found this position extremely rewarding as I could see my positive impact on this population, however I had a curiosity to see the side of special education with inclusion within General Education.

A positive mindset, purposeful partnerships, deliver the real results. When we collaborate, expect transparency and consistency.

On a personal note

My family keeps roots me in positivity and perciverance. Experiences as a basketball coach and sports enthusiast shape how I approach relationships with the kids and parents I work with and the colleagues I work alongside.

My mission is to provide unwavering support for both Charter schools and parents navigate the complicated world of Special Education with resources and high quality services. I firmly believe that every child has the potential to thrive, and it's my privilege to help unlock that potential.

Coordinating and implementing IEP’s for both Everest Value School and Downtown Value School
Oversite on all service providers and compliance of Special Education Program for
Designed an intervention team that provides services to ELD and IEP students
Mentored and developed staff through one on one meetings with development plans
Created SpEd program that was accepted into Option 3; successfully passed WASC accreditation
Wrote and awarded a Grant from LAUSD for a Sensory Garden that was built at Everest Value School to a safe space for students with Special Needs to get their sesnory needs met.

Champs Charter High School of the Arts
Multimedia and Performing, Van Nuys, CA,
August 2013 – 2015

Managing a caseload of 25 students with various disabilities (Grades 9 - 12,).
Initializing and establishing IEP’s for students referred by student success team.
Administering assessment, conducting re-evaluation and three-year IEP’s to determine eligibility.
Push-in model servicing minutes in the classroom as well as co-teaching.

Village Glen West, Culver City, CA
January 2008 - 2013

Five years as a lead instructor in middle school classroom.
Daily tasks consist of case management, classroom instruction, and behavior management. Teach Social Studies, Physical Science, Math and Language Arts to students with high functioning autism.
Special Project: worked with 3 teacher team to prepare 16 students for travel for 8 days to Paris/London and traveled with group; trip allowed students to increase learning, immersion of culture, and gained confidence to navigate independently without parents in new surroundings and interactions. Represent the school in legal proceedings
Participate in IEP meetings, discussions, informal conferences, mediations and Due Process hearings to resolve issues regarding special education students
Provides staff with professional development for special education compliance and procedures. Coaching and Professional development for teachers
Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to special education
Performs regular program reviews and recommends changes in program administration, methodology, curriculum and/ or procedures as necessary
